Saturday night I photographed a monthly fiddler's gathering of sorts, in Hallsville, MO. Interesting people and great regional folk tunes. I can't really complain about my job sometimes.

photo booth
Setting up a photo booth at my wedding was a great idea. It allowed people to get loose and it kept them entertained, at what is usually a pretty boring event. Here are a few that I found interesting because people were unaware that the shutter was being clicked.
You can see all the pics here.

memories
These are two very special pictures. They represent a monumental event in my life. By looking at them, I will be reminded that what was once two, is now one.

Photographing "change"
The Obama circus came to Columbia late last week. I was not sure I wanted to deal with the frenzy of being there, but I am glad that I did.

Rock Island, TN
I spent last weekend with some wonderful folks in a secluded cabin in Tennessee. I tried photographing with my emotions, instead of my eyes – paying special attention to mood and texture.

I finally did it.
I broke down and decided to start shooting weddings. I spend most of my time taking portraits of people who do not appreciate it. Why not photograph people who want their picture made and get paid well for doing it.
Here are a couple of selects from my engagement shoot with Megan and David. I had a lot of fun. They were were all smiles, even though I asked them to meet me at 7:00 a.m.

this little rabbit.
I am trying and failing at feeling with my camera. I find to many times lately that I am searching through a take trying to make a picture after the fact. I should be in the moment, looking for something real, something original. I should be cropping with my eyes and not this machine. I should be expressing feelings and curiosities and engaging my subjects.

football preview
This is the center spread layout for our fall issue of MIZZOU. It is the intro to our football preview and will be printed as a vertical double truck, so readers can tear out the spread and hang it on their wall. Who would want three ominous college athletes staring them down everyday?
Dealing with athletics is such a pain in the ass. I had to abandon my original idea because they wouldn't provide the three players all at the same time. So, designer Blake Dinsdale pieced this together from four separate shoots. I think it turned out nicely none-the-less.
